Internal Medicine

Internal medicine addresses your pet’s internal organs and body systems. Internal medicine takes your pet’s entire body into account and prioritizes noninvasive treatments like medications and therapies. Common issues addressed by internal medicine include kidney disease, lung disease, immune system problems and gastrointestinal problems.

Disease Management

No pet should have to suffer. At Blue Ridge Veterinary Associates, we want your pet to live a long, happy life with you. If your pet is suffering from any kind of disease, like chronic kidney disease or even arthritis, we will help you manage your pet’s pain and inflammation long term.

Your pet’s disease management plan will be tailored to their specific condition, age and general health so your pet can continue to live a comfortable life.

Our in-house laboratory allows us to perform important tests for our patients with same-day results, so we don’t have to wait to diagnose and begin treatment for your pet. Tests we provide include:

  • Stool Samples – Used to detect the presence of parasites including roundworms, hookworms and tapeworms
  • Urine Samples – Used to detect various types of urinary tract diseases including infection and kidney disease
  • Blood Samples – Used to detect dangerous diseases such as Lyme disease, leptospirosis, feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV)

When necessary, we also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations to ensure your pet receives the most accurate diagnosis.
